The Minimal Mom Mentorship Challenge is still in full swing and this week was all about bathrooms. With some extra time, I decided to pass through my master bathroom. A couple of things to note: 1. We have no linen closet. I just wash our towels regularly and don’t keep extra. 2. I do wash my face with a new washcloth each night, but I don’t need enough for 493084503485 days. I wash them regularly, too.
Dawn says we need 3 things:
My modifications are that I have small small spots in my back stock items as time will tell since I am a micro organizer and I try not to really keep much back stock any more as I KNOW I won’t remember/go through it. If you are in the messy middle and a micro organizer, I’d recommend a divided time will tell bin so you can sort in a way that makes your brain sigh relief not stress.
Lastly, the question of “have I used this in the last year?” wasn’t actually great for me. I got rid of a bunch of wash clothes that I DID use in the last year. I got rid of eye patches I DID use in the last year. So I modified my question to “Really girl, REALLY?” Basically if someone was helping me, would they be like “really girl? Do you REALLY need that?!” I’d sigh and put it in the trash because I know I really don’t need it. I don’t need the cleanser I only kind of liked. I don’t need the sunscreen I mostly used but know I won’t finish. I don’t need extra hair care products I know I never remember.
It’s ok to take a slightly modified approach depending on where you are. Changing the question a tad helped me get rid of more than just surface clutter. It doesn’t look like much, but bins were cleared, items reduced, and things hidden in the back were pulled out and sorted. It took about 40 minutes. There’s a video at the bottom of the page!
Below is the finished products. Items still out on display (I like a visual organization system and I use the products regularly) and underneath the cabinets, they are tidied up and ready for their prime time.
