Oh the joys of being an undiagnosed adult with ADHD! I’ve shown my fridge on the internet before and let’s just say people had thoughts. Mostly good ones, but thoughts nonetheless. I know this hyper-micro-organized fridge is not for everyone, but it works for me. Yes, it is esthetic, but it’s also really functional for me. If you are familiar with Cas from Clutterbug’s different organizing categories, I am a strong bee. The fridge is a clear indication of that!
My fridge has a few main zones that you can see in the photo above. The top section houses clear drawers for cheeses, misc items, some veggies, etc. This is mainly backstock and items “adults” use for cooking and such (ie kids don’t usually need up here). The main area in the middle is the prime real estate with fruit/veggies, meal prep items and leftovers. Usually the kids are grabbing fruit and snacks from the fridge and this makes it easy to see. I don’t have a ton of room for leftovers, but that’s by design. I’d rather waste a bit of space but see everything and make sure leftovers don’t get stuffed in the back.
The drawers house produce and cheese because I have a ton. I also separated the meats in a clear divided drawer. This also helps us keep meats fresh, easy to access and easy to see. The divider helps maximize the space and I usually keep snack meats separate.
The doors house all the drinks and condiments. No surprise a good label keeps me honest and I do find it easy to clean. I generally don’t mind the now minimal maintenance in exchange for less spoiled food and easy to access healthier foods.
